Claret, the Bordeaux red wine meant to be enjoyed chilled

claret Les Roches Blanches

Have you heard of Claret?

In 2025, the Bordeaux appellation is bringing Claret back into the spotlight — a historic style that had nearly disappeared, now reimagined to suit
contemporary tastes. First produced in the 12th century, this light, pale red wine long brought international acclaim to Bordeaux, particularly among the English. Its comeback caters to a new generation of wine lovers seeking wines that are fruity, supple, low in tannins, and easy to share.
And Château Roquefort is one of the ambassadors for this new appellation!

A fresh wine that’s easy to share

With our Claret Les Roches Blanches, a 100% Merlot from clay-limestone terroirs, we offer a wine best served chilled, between 10 and 12 °C, to reveal a smooth, indulgent palate. Its low-temperature vinification and short cold pre-fermentation maceration enhance its fresh, fruity character.

This red breaks free from the traditional conventions of Bordeaux reds: as an aperitif, on a terrace, or with an impromptu dinner. It pairs perfectly
with tuna tartare with soy sauce and ginger or grilled eggplant with Parmesan and fresh herbs.

And on the label of our Claret, you’ll find the
heart-shaped rock that rises from our limestone plateau in the midst of
unspoiled nature.
